SYF is next week. and so is sports day.
im soo worried i will will screw up for syf. hopefully the judges are normal looking and not extremely handsome. that way i wont feel like bursting out laughing or be even more nervous then i already am.

anyways, on monday there were some people from a handicap club. one of them was jovin tan the handicap singapore sailor. and the woman said we should blog about it so here it goes.
firstly i pity the disabled not just because they are physically inept but because of the treatment they receive from the public especially singaporeans. we unintentionally and subconciously ostracize those who appear different. jovin tan has ceberal palsy and is wheel chair bound. he says he gets stares from the public when he travels. i, personally stare those who limp or look slightly different. i think the main reason is curiosity. but it should stop. its not very comfortable to have eyes on you all the time. at the very least for those who cannot resist looking, give them a smile to show the physically disabled that they are not shunned.
i also feel that the tolerance level of singaporeans towards handicaps are extremely low. i can just vividly imagine a singaporean tapping their feet waiting for a wheel chair bound person to board the mrt or the lift. hopefully with all the new facilities for the disabled and elderly, singaporeans will learn to treat them better. australians [and maybe just everyone else] on the other hand are very tolerant. i was on holiday there years ago and stayed in with my aunt. her neighbour had down syndrome. his iq was low and you could tell he had down syndrome by the look of his face. he acts like a 4 yr old although i think he was about 9. at shopping malls he would slap/pinch people buts. the response? i little chuckle and even a pat on his head and maybe a short conversation. if that happens in metro im sure there will be a scene. well, the point is that instead of seeing handicaps as a burden treating them with void of respect, we should be more friendly and tolerant towards the disabled. they go through alot to pull through one day. the least we "normal" people can do is not to make things worse.
so try this, whenever you see someone on a wheel chair smile. it can do wonders.
oh ya, the captains ball match was on fri and my class is 3rd place. yay!. our opponents we tough so our accomplishment is great. good work everyone!
and monday was syf preview for a small audience. i feel i screwed up slightly and was way too nervous.
hopefully next week after syf i wont be to tired cause my aunt is planning to hike up bukit timah!. sad as it sounds, i have never been there.
and sometimes i dont know if i can cope or im just not trying hard enough.
