SAWADIKA!
that is the official greeting in Thailand. chapter 2 of bangkok fun was a blast and im here to blog about the highlights of it all. it was from the 28nov-6dec. 6 of us went. the oldest three are the sweet sixteens: Aminah Samihah and Ismail followed by the sec2s:Munirah and Muhammad and the youngest of the lot, the PSLE student, Shakirah. so this is how it goes.

flight was scheduled for abt 5 plus. then delayed to 8 plus and then another delay to 10 plus. we were all irritating obviously and my aunt and uncle in bangkok were getting worried cause the flight was delayed. my cousin shafiq couldnt come fetch us cos it was too late. bottomline: left on wednesday arrived on thursday. what was a total shocker was that it was COLD in bangkok. i confidently didnt bring a jacket since bkk is known to be hot! haha. the new airport is much bigger. got lost abit before we went out. saw my uncle, aunt and my aunts sister meiNoi. went back and slept!

woke up relatively early. the water was really cold. went to sunflower valley by a pick up driven by my uncle. the back was covered so it wasnt all that windy. but the journeys were fun because we sang songs and played those word games thing. dissappointed slightly when we drove past the sunflowers cause they were all slightly wilted. all the 7 kids were squeezed at the back when we drove past a go kart place. we all became overly excited and tried to get our uncles attention by knocking on the glass pane separating the back from the front. the result? uncle didnt know what was going on so he jam-breaked. so went to drive gokart instead. it was super fun lah! the roads were lined by tyres. and i remember turning too fast and banging into them soo many times. the person had to keep on re-arranging the tyres. haha. poor thing. had ice cream there too. on our way back saw more sunflowers which werent too bad so took pictures. from there we went to Pasak Jorasid Dam. its a dam lah. went on the tram and after that took photos and bought a frame of a photo taken on the tram. at night went to the midnight market near my aunts place. then went home and rested.

went SHOPPING! went to pratunam. shopped abit. there werent as many good,nice and cheap earrings there anymore and very little birkenstocks so didnt by neither there. we were late when we were suppose to meet back cause we lost our way abit. thanks to munirah who has great memory and awesome sense of direction, we found our way eventually. just late. reached home and then celebrated my cousin shafiq and his cuz kong's birthday. it was so funny cause shafiq's name was spelt as shaqui. i guess his thai aunt nvr got the hang of his name! haha. poor thing cos we are already teasing him with the name paprik. after that, returned to our room and it was lights out.

went to Chatuchak!!!!!. thats the sunday/weekend market. obviously we didnt get to cover everything. you need to be as fast as superman to do that. infact we-the girls- only covered one row. bought lots of stuff obviously. everything is more expensive than last year tho. its like the gst there increased too. after having dinner at home we went to the cyber cafe.at one time, i was chatting then suddenly i was typing in Thai!. haha. hilarious lah.

this was sightseeing day. woke up early and first stop was the Thai human imagery musuem. better known as house of wax. only thing its fibreglass not wax. but its just as creepy!! from there, went to the cemetry at kancanaburi saluting all those lives sacrifized there during WW 2.then went to the death railway there. walked on it abit which was pretty scary. then took the train as well. but the train had to go really really slow due to all the people walking on the railway. from there, we went to IRAWAN waterfall. its was really really nice too! the water was cold and re-freshing! there were 7 levels but we only went to the 2nd one. on the way home we got really lost. the King's birthday was coming up on the 5th so the route we were lost at was heavily decorated with beautifl golden lights, big pictures of the King and grand stuff like that. was exausted by the time we reached home. after dinner i immediately dozed off.

another shopping day. this time we went to Ma Brung Krung or better known as MBK. its actually more like a shopping mall so could not really bargain that much. but still got good buys. at first we wanted to take the tuk-tuk from the "businterchange" but after too much waiting took the mrt-ish thing instead. so excited cause it was my first time and we would be dropping at the station named National Stadium. i was hoping i could catch a glimpse of some football action but then the stadium was actually pretty small as it was the FORMER national stadium. haha. had dinner at mbk aswell. wanted to treat our aunt and uncle but they refused. went home after that.

DREAMWORLD! yea! went to a themepark which is just so beautiful!. went there last yr aswell but it was still nice. my uncle was soo cute at some of the rides. took many rides. and the crazy ones are ofcourse Raptor-where it spins really fast, hurricane-which is just crazy and viking-which makes the one in singapore look like a sampan. felt abit wheezy for awhile but then regained myself after watching a hollywood-like live action skit. it was really cool and different from last year. the place closes at abt 5.30 so we left at abt nearly 6 after taking pictures. it was almost dark already. went home, had dinner and slept!

King's 80th birthday! didnt get to see the monks who came to my aunts village in the morning asking for like well-wishes cause i was still sleep. caught abit of the parade on tv tho. many many many people were dressed in yellow-the official colour of monday, the day the King was born. i didnt have yellow so i wore pink. the other possible colour as it symbolizes longevity i think. went to the muslim market and had lunch there. then went to a shopping centre where everything was quite expensive. while waiting for my aunt we all played with the exercise equipment for sale there. haha. then went to the midnight market again for some last minute shopping.

the last day. we all had something done to our hair. haha. i scorpion plaited it with some fake coloured extensions. my aunts friend did it for us. and it was really really communication break down! haha. went to the airport at abt 4 plus cause it was an hours drive and we wanted to be at the airport by 5.45 latest. in the journey there, the kiddos sitting at the back-aminah,samihah,muhd,munirah and ismail actually created a game with the aid of our huge luggage! the flight home was bumpy espeacially compared to the journey there. went home and slept at abt 4!
was really really tired and not feeling too well. i have been really sick since i came home! i cant wait to get well and go out! and i need a job. yes, i havent gotten one! help!. haha. hopefully i'll get one in the following week!. wish me luck!
